Jon Jones: champion, father...troll?

Following his dominant victory over Glover Teixeira at UFC 172, the UFC light heavyweight king Jones took to Instagram to mock his detractors.

Jones' victory at the event sparked controversy, as the champion utilized an outstretched hand to find his range on the feet, repeatedly poking Teixeira in the eye in the process.

Apparently, Jones doesn't take kindly to these critics, and he uploaded a short video to Instagram expressing his thoughts on the matter.

While Jones deleted the video from his Instagram account shortly after posting, according to the sleuths of Reddit, it has been since immortalized on YouTube, where all can enjoy it in its full glory.

With only eight seconds of video to analyze, I'll save you the transcription, but the sentiments are, in my opinion, hilarious, and they will only serve to better Jones' career.

The dude is 26 years old, he's at the top of his game, he's arguably the most dominant fighter the sport has ever seen, and yet he's lacking that extra something-something that pushes him over the edge as a huge star.

Is the video immature? Absolutely. Is it unnecessary? Absolutely.

Does it make you want to watch Jones' next fight even more?

Abso-freaking-lutely.

While the video is only eight seconds long, its contents are powerful. They make you view Jones in one of two ways: Either you think it's funny and you want to support the guy, or you think he's a jerk and want to watch him get knocked out.

Either way, Jones wins and the UFC wins, because he's putting butts in seats and becoming the polarizing star the company needs as it continues to move forward in 2014.

This video, of course, comes just after Jones trolled former light heavyweight champion and UFC legend Chuck Liddell and fellow UFC 172 combatant Phil Davis via Instagram. I'm not sure if Jones is intentionally going full heel on us, but it certainly seems like he's abandoning any desire to emerge as the squeaky-clean, lovable figure in the sport.

Mr. Jones: Your methods are sometimes questionable, my friend, but this one is undoubtedly effective, and you're certain to enjoy a little boost in popularity-be it positive or negative- in its wake.
